MARCEL DUBE (born FEBRUARY 2 is a canadian drummer extraodinaire. He was born and raised in NORTHERN ONTARIO. His mother and father were musicians in a band together who bought him his first drum set & guitar @ the age of 5 but had destroyed them both within a week from watching KISS on a HALLOWEEN special. KISS had smashed the guitars into the drum set as MARCEL did as well. He didn't have a chance to play in a bar with his parents for he was too young. He then figured out what he wanted to play when he met an 18yr old with an amazing stereo system @ the age of 13.When he was reintroduced to music with the sound of IRON MAIDEN, BLACKSABATH,RAINBOW,DOKKEN too name a few. Marcel then started to listen to Q107 & air drummed & sang in his room till the age of 17. He went to a party got his drink spiked and started to become paranoid by hallucinations. His friend had calmed him down by playing the RUSH POWER WINDOWS which MARCEL knew the drum parts like the back of his hand. Everyone was in awe and then MARCEL got a brand new TAMA SWINGSTAR & played 8hrs a day driving his family nuts.Within 2 weeks of playing he told some friends that he could play RUSH,IRON MAIDEN, his friends in disbelief came over with a video camera which was then played @ a party to get himself his first band. By getting a contact and following through which then ended up with the band SHYBOY for 1yr. After parting ways he metsomeone who new a guitar player of 11 yrs of experience. Luckily MARCEL's mother was doing laundry and told him not be intimidated to call. Which he then auditioned and was on the road all over ONTARIO @ the age of 20 for 6 years. MARCEL has then moved from band to band from the likes of FREE & EASY,HIGHRISE,TRUTHFUL LIARS,TIME MACHINE,CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, A numerous piece HIGH SCHOOL BAND who has toured in schools and special places in NIAGARA FALLS,LONDON then appeared 3 times on BREAKFAST TV. Meanwhile was with SWEET IVY an all original band which had won air time on Q107's discovery program supposedly against SUM 41 @ a battle of the bands @ Wheelies. I believe thatthey are the only unsigned act to have the GANDHARVAS open up for them on the eve of CHRISTMAS IN 1996.Then joined up with STONEHAVEN who gave SWEET IVY to appear on ROGERS tv's STAR CAN with STONEHAVEN as well.MARCEL was getting tired of empty promises then moved on forming WILD BLUE YONDER with the NASMITH BROS. who were musical geniuses in his eyes for they had repertoire of 500 songsand counting from THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA to BLACK SABATH and anything in between.They teamed up with STONEHAVEN for a 3 hour audition for each to be accepted by both bands @ the FREEDOM FESTIVAL in TRUDEAU.Opening for 4 major acts including the main act TEA PARTY. Nothing came out of it but he kept moving on from band to band. Eventually forming a former all original group called TO HAVE CONTROL who had gotten air time on102.1 THE EDGE. He did teach @ RIVERSIDE MUSIC in TRENTON, showing his students from the age of 6 to 18yrshis new and dynamic innovative musical dominant ways of drumming with his drumming influences of MIKE PORTNOY, MARK ZONDER,TERRY BOZZIO etc.
